Richard Petty has enjoyed a very successful career in the horse industry as a trainer, breeder and judge. He received his first judge’s card in 1979 and is presently carded in 10 different equine breeds. Richard feels that if you are going to be involved with the industry, you need to invest more of yourself than just training and owning horses. “I thoroughly enjoy judging…it gives me a wonderful opportunity to scope out what is happening in the various breeds across the country and in other parts of the world and from the best perspective of all – center ring.”

Richard judges approximately 30 shows per year. He has judged the highest level Arabian horse shows in the United States, Canada, Brazil and Australia as well as many prestigious shows for other breeds.
